Black-and-white pen drawing of a two-story Craftsman-style house with a wide front porch, detailed windows, and a symmetrical facade, viewed from the front with steps leading up to the entrance.
In 1910, architect Thomas Vigors set out to build the home of Robert and Marian Evans. Located in the middle of one of the most beautiful tree lined streets in Ladd's Addition, Vigors embraced the strengths of the arts and crafts movement when he designed what would become one of the most beautiful homes in all of southeast Portland. Over a century later, the current stewards, experienced in historic renovations, took on what would become a seven-figure project that today reflects what is arguably one of the single most prolific homes on the eastside. As you approach the west facing elevation you will witness the incredible architectural details that include a broud shouldered porch accented by 8 doubled up columns, a massive soffit with repeating corbels and the signature window box that is emblematic of the level of detail that went into this historic property. Entering the home you are greeted by a prom-worthy foyer that introduces you to the formal spaces anchoring the NW corner of the main floor while also introducing you to the new open-concept gourmet kitchen / dining room. The designer kitchen boasts a 60" Lacanche range, stunning marble counters, a custom plaster coated range hood, inset built-ins, one of the single most beautiful islands you will see. New oversized French doors create the ideal flow pattern to the exterior while flooding the kitchen with morning light. Broadening the kitchen's incredible utility is a dreamy butler's pantry that leads you to the northeast wing of the floor. Rounding out the main level is a vaulted mudroom, a stunning office with a new, custom arched doorway and a powder room featuring Calcutta Viola marble, Waterworks fixtures and an incredible ribbed walnut vanity. Moving upstairs to the second floor is an incredible 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom layout encompassing over 1500 square feet. In reinventing this floor the owners also added a family room and an upstairs laundry room that include custom built-ins, signature colors and countless design-rich details. Beyond the second floor is one of the most incredible third floors you will ever see. As part of the extensive multi-year renovation the third floor was reinvented to include an expansive media room, an office/guest room, and a magazine-worthy primary suite. The primary suite features a cast iron freestanding tub, dual custom vanities, an expansive walk-in closet and a vaulted bedroom highlighted by a picture-perfect makeup table. Rounding out the interior of this grand dame is another 1100+ square feet in the basement, giving the next stewards room to expand, embrace hobbies or simply leverage the open, high-ceiling spaces for countless storage options. Moving beyond the incredible interior is an expansive IPE deck that leads to the oversized backyard. The private backyard features a massive Pennsylvania bluestone patio, open grass area and large sideyard where you can host epic gatherings around the firepit. Gorgeous plantings highlight almost every area of the grounds, and a two car garage anchors the NE corner of the lot. With an address bookended by two of Portland's most cherished business districts you don't want to miss what is one of the most incredible historic homes to enter the Portland market in years.
